Double Duty ...
Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your Easter weekend is going well. I’ve been playing with my alcohol inks once again this time I wanted to see if I could use them in two different ways with two mini canvas and here is the first one …
It's a super cute little one, although not as small as the second one
Lots of lovely alcohol ink, texture paste and crackle paint!
I love me some crackle paint
Some snippets from other projects were finally used lol!
Another look at that awesome texture
Here is my second mini canvas ...
The paint strokes can be seen from it's previous use
I was a little too heavy handed with the texture paste but I quite like that

Unstampa Belles Challenge To Die For
I wanted to create two canvas using similar materials and similar techniques. These were old miniature canvas that weren't working for me and because I didn't like the way they looked so I decided to upcycle them. I carefully removed anything that was glued to them and I was lucky because the larger canvas already had texture paste so I only needed one layer of gesso before adding the alcohol inks. The smaller canvas was very rough so I applied two layers of gesso, then the alcohol inks and then the texture paste. I also used the same colours on both, blue, pink and yellow and I was going to use butterflies on each one too.
I was worried that the alcohol ink might absorb into the smaller canvas and drip out on the reverse. Luckily it didn't soak through the way I was worried but it has absorbed some of the alcohol ink in the centre and I think that's why it has a round orange circle! I tried to move the colours with alcohol ink blending solution but that didn't work. It obviously needed at least another coat of gesso or maybe matt medium to stop the alcohol ink absorbing into the canvas. Once I had covered the canvas I used a stencil and added the texture paste through the flower stencil. I've owned the black texture paste for a while and I'm wondering if that's why it's started to seep under the stencil so I am going to do my best to use it quickly.
Along with using the alcohol inks on the larger canvas I was also able to use the alcohol ink blending solution to move the ink around and I am so very happy with the look that I achieved on the larger canvas. Because I wanted the background to be the star on the larger canvas I also applied a layer of Rock Candy Crackle paint. You can see in the close up photographs the extra texture that has given to the canvas and the beautiful shimmer too. The background is now the star of that project! Once again I learnt from this experiment and it was so much fun, lol! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
